Welcome

Our Mission:

"At SAI, Inc, we believe that people should not be required to move out of their homes, and possibly even from their communities to receive supportive living services. When people can live at home with minimal assistance while keeping more control over their lives and money, they should be allowed to choose to do so. As long as they choose, disabled and elderly citizens should be empowered to remain a meaningful part of their communities and government. At SAI, our work is to support independence and to provide choices responsive to our citizens of all ages with special needs."

Company Profile:

SAI is a 501(C) 3 healthcare service agency to promote the general welfare of the people. SAI is licensed by the Tennessee Division of Mental Retardation Services, The Tennessee Office on Aging, The Tennessee Department of Health, and the Tennessee Child Adult Care Food Program and serves individuals with a wide range of physical and mental challenges through one or more of the services listed in the "Services" section of this website. For those who qualify, services are individualized to address specific needs and requirements of each person. All ages are served.

SAI has created a positive environment and public appeal for the kind and quality of work the agency does. It has been said that, "SAI is one of the best things that has happened in Scott County."

Tim McKowen, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of the Wabash Corporation said, "All we do is contract with the agency to assemble a product, but when I see the work the agency really does, it gives me a warm feeling just thinking I may be a little part." (However, Mr. McKowen played a huge role in the progress and success of the agency.)

SAI was established in 1984. With a budget of $42,000 per year and 2 staff members, SAI provided Day Habilitation for a total of 7 citizens with mental retardation.

Today, SAI provides numerous day and at-home services for citizens with disabilities in Scott County and surrounding communities.

SAI employs over 180 staff, serves over 100 individuals weekly, and more than 1,000 annually. Those served and the number of services provided have grown consistently.
